Please forgive my intrusion but this thread is opening to me a whole new horizon.
I think I had a wrong idea about the prices of the original VW ATM (that means, Vw gives me a like-new remanufactured engine but I give back my old broken one so that I pay a cheaper price and I get 2 years of warranty).
Right now I'm looking for a van (not for me, I have already one). I don't have access to the updated ETKA.
I read this thread with Google translator, and if I had understood correctly (it's 3.00am!), the ATM BTDI 2.0L R4 180ps is cheaper than the ATM R5 2.5L 130ps and 170ps.
This not very intuitive; I would have bet that they pices the engines upon the output power (total PS the engine gives).
I knew already that the R5 2.5 170ps and 130ps are both very expensive, like 7000 or 8000 euro + installation and without the injection units; for this reason I'm trying to avoid them like a plague. I searched ebay for alternative engines, but they are very expensive anyway, like 4000 euro (the ones priced less, have not new pistons!). Even the the 1.9 R4 102ps (that is the very same engine with 1 cylinder less) is not very cheaper: hardly I can find one at less than 3000 euro.
Now I read here that the 180ps BTDI ATM original from VW costs less than 4000 euro.
Wenn jemand das beim R5 TDI überlegt - OK, hier sind VW Teile einfach extrem teuer.
Beim BiTDI ist der VW Motor so günstig, dass es sich einfach nicht lohnt über Alternativen nachzudenken.
So, the 180ps BTDI euro5 R4 is cheaper than the 170ps TDI R5 euro3 or euro4, and somehow it has the same price of the 1.9 TDI 102ps, still euro4.
Can you ppl confirm this to me?
In such case, I will show this to the guy who asked me to get a van for him, maybe he will get persuaded to look for a common rail engine, and increase the budget. A nice 2.0 140ps would fit better than a 1.9 102ps because it is an euro5, and even if the things will go bad (engine breaks down), the price of a new engine is still acceptable, not like the 2.5 R5 130ps...
Thank you in advance...
