(English) VW T5 Facelift

Dear T5-BOARD,

I contacted this forum because I reckon this is the place where I'm going to get some real answers.

Let's get straight to it. I am strongly considering to buy a T5 AWD with 174 hp diesel engine. It's on the market since 2003 and it is starting to age a bit.. I was wondering when we should expect the facelift?

My VW dealer says in 2010 the ALL-new model is coming.
The T5 doens't has VW's latest transmissions and engine's anymore, and the design doesn't really fit it in anymore.

So when is the facelift going to be here?


What do you guys think?

Hi Mr. NoName,

I don't expect a real facelift with new engines before 2009.

Until then it seems as we have to struggle with the old 5-cylinder engines.

... the production of the "new" modell starts every year at june.
This year there are nearly no obviously modifications for the 2008 modell.
I expect some for next year, for the 2009 modell.

So for 2008 there isn't going to be a new model, probably only for 2009.

My dealer however claims the all-new model will be launched in 2010...

So there would only be a one year gap between facelift and totally new model...?

Don't wait, you lost more than 2 years feeling like an eagle.

Facelift or New T6, whatever you have to wait after outcomming also 2 years.

Cause the new will have a lot of problem, always the same procedure
(summary = 4 years)

After, you got also a good price for your "Old T5"

Mostly with a facelift child diseases are solved, at least that's what I always thought..

Exactly

Mostly with a facelift child diseases are solved, at least that's what I always thought..

So it is, T5 needed 2-3 years.

It is rather unlikely that the T6 will come out in 2010. VWN has had much longer product cycles in the past, so 'only' seven years for the T5 - hard to believe.

A facelift is certainly due by then (MY 2009 is unlikely as that would mean that the upgraded components would have be ready pretty soon - VW requires pretty much production-ready parts & equipment one year ahead of SOP) - whether or not that will bring about new 'childhood diseases' depends on what is 'upgraded'.
