Hi Claus, do you mind digging up this topic in English?
First of all, my compliments retro fitting a factory high roof, very impressive to say the least!
OK, so I have the same T5.1 with the factory roof and just finished a skeleton under the roof in extruded aluminum profiles to hang of a portable shower and 2 bikes. Also a third bed for our daughter in case she decides to come with us.
The base for this skeleton is an Airline rail I rivnutted in the metal work under the GRP roof and it is very strong, I use it to hang my 2 windsurf board of against the wall, I will attach a few pictures.
In about a month the skeleton should be finished completely (alu profile orders are a mess) and time has come to think about a side rack to get at least my big 260x80 board out and I am also thinking maybe the sail stack of 5 sails.
I noticed how you attached 4 Airline rails (which I bet you needed to bend) to the side of the roof, but you did NOT position them above the 4 hollow ribs or spreaders or whatever you would call them. WHY?
Is it because you sandwiched the Airline rails with spreader plates on the inside? Do you have any more pictures about how you did this maybe?
I on the other hand am thinking about drilling through the ribs using U-bracket plates from the alu profiles.
I saw a video on youtube from a guy installing a roof rack, reinforcing the ribs with wooden arches, it looks very sturdy.
The Airline rails in black look cool, but I would prefer something more low profile.
I bought these anchor points, on the white roof they should not be noticed to much
OK I attached some pictures, I you have any information that you can share with me Claus, please let me know!
Cheers from Italia
